In order to advance the issue of water in the context of the climate change negotiations, it was important to build up an evidence-base and consult with a range of stakeholders to identify the core priorities for water and climate change. |
An important aspect of raising the profile of water and climate issues and influencing the negotiations is organising events, seminars and workshops alongside the negotiations. The GPPN organised a range of events throughout 2009 in the run up to COP15.. |

One of the most important aspects of influencing international negotiations is being able to respond rapidly to any changes in the negotiating text. Below you can find all GPPN responses to each version of the adaptation negotiating text in the run-up to COP15. |
A critical component of GPPN advocacy was building strong relationships with country negotiators. Our success in raising the profile of water in the negotiations, and in achieving a significant increase in the number of proposals and interventions from Parties related to water, was based on building trust with country delegations and making the case for a strong focus on water. |
