PRESS RELEASE: Six countries call for the tabling of water on the agenda at the climate change negotiations

In the closing plenary session of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) at COP16 on Saturday 5th December, six countries called for water to be tabled as an agenda item for the next session of the SBSTA in June 2012.

Ecuador, Sudan, Chile, Sierra Leone, Syria and El Salvador all spoke in support of the proposal. The Water and Climate Coalition had been working collaboratively with Parties to advance water in the climate change negotiations, and very much welcomes this progress.
