The GPPN response called for much stronger language on the importance of water resources and identified areas in the text where this could be incorporated.

GPPN Response to Non-Paper 31, October/November 2009 http://waterclimatecoalition.stakeholderforum.org/activities/cop-18-doha/100-activities/textual-advocacy-cop15/181-gppn-octnov-09 http://waterclimatecoalition.stakeholderforum.org/activities/cop-18-doha/100-activities/textual-advocacy-cop15/181-gppn-octnov-09 Non-Paper 31 on adaptation.

This text deleted any references to water for adaptation, and so the GPPN issued a strong response calling for the reinsertion of water into the text, along with recommendations on where it would best fit.

GPPN Response to AWG LCA Negotiating Text, August 2009 http://waterclimatecoalition.stakeholderforum.org/activities/cop-18-doha/100-activities/textual-advocacy-cop15/178-gppn-august-09 http://waterclimatecoalition.stakeholderforum.org/activities/cop-18-doha/100-activities/textual-advocacy-cop15/178-gppn-august-09 This document was issued for the UNFCCC session that took place in Bonn in August 2009, and was a response to the revised negotiating text released as of 22nd June. This revised negotiating text was released once all Parties had submitted any additional comments after the climate talks in Bonn from 1st – 12th June.

The revised negotiating text , though difficult to follow, was a major achievement for the GPPN as it included a number of references to water, many of which had been lifted directly from our proposals. The GPPN conducted an analysis of this text and how our advocacy had influenced its development on water, which can be downloaded here.
